Vietnamization was a policy of the Richard Nixon administration, as a resullt of the Tet offensive, the U.S. was going to train South Vietnamese so they could fight on their own. He wanted South Vietnam to know what they were doing in the combat role. The United States army slowely came out of the war and left Vietnam.
